Simple Cadence Software Tutorial Part 3

Creating a New Cell View

In this third part of the tutorial, we will discuss creating a new Cell View.  This is done in the Library Manager, but it can be done in two ways.  First, select the Library in which you will be adding this new Cell.  Second, either select Library Manager: File->New->Cell View or you can type the name of the new cell in the blank under Cell in the Library Manager and hit <Enter>.  This brings up a window in which we will specify the type of view we are creating, seen in figure 4. For this tutorial, we will be creating an Inverter, so we will name the Cell inv.  We are going to first create the schematic of the Inverter. In the Create New File window, select as the tool Composer-Schematic. This will cause the View Name to be automatically filled with the name schematic.

When you are finished click OK.  This will close the current window and bring up the window in which we will design the schematic of the Inverter. Schematic design is the topic of Part 4 of this tutorial.
